My Journey as an Artist: How I Got Here
Welcome, I am Nihan, 31 years old and a professional artist. Art is an important part of my life, and in this blog I share how I got started, the obstacles I faced along the way, and what my plans are for the future.
How It Started
Art has always been present in my life. In kindergarten, I had the best painting in the class during an assignment. As a teenager, I was already drawing on everything I could find – walls, sketchbooks, even my school books. What started as a hobby quickly grew into something more serious. I did my first mural at the age of 22 on request in a lounge I frequented, and that gave me the confidence to continue with it.
Of course, it didn’t always go smoothly. There were times when I doubted whether this was the right choice, especially as I got older and had more expenses. As you start to live more independently, your time should preferably generate money, and that’s not always the case with art. But every setback forced me to get better and persevere.
The Growth
Over the years my skills and work have grown tremendously. What started as small projects for friends and family has grown into a business where my paintings are sold online and I receive requests from cities and municipalities to business owners.
To give you an idea:
Earlier (2014) : My first works were simple and often experiments, I started with black and white portraits.

- Present : Nowadays I create murals that can fully meet the wishes of a client while also further expanding my portfolio with works from my own style and message.

The difference is not only in my technique, but also in how I present my work. I have learned that art is not only about what you make, but also about how you present yourself as an artist. The business skills I have acquired from my economic background have come in very handy here. Especially marketing and sales should certainly not be underestimated.
What Now and What Next?
At the moment I am focusing on expanding my portfolio and setting up new collaborations. My goal is to take my work to the next level and continue to develop myself, both technically and professionally.
I would like to reach more people with my art. Whether you want to have something made, buy a work, or are just curious about what I do - you are always welcome to contact me.
